GIMP for Unix
GIMP for Windows
GIMP for Macintosh
GIMP for OS/2

Why a separate site for WinGIMP?
The answer is simple: Linux and Win32 are different environments and have vastly different support issues. Whereas the GIMP comes pre-installed as a part of many Linux distributions, Windows users must install it separately.

This website is dedicated to supporting and assisting users of GIMP on Windows, and hopes to prevent any forks in GIMP development.

The Arrival of GIMP 2.4 2007-10-24
October 24, 2007 Sven Neumann wrote:
Version 2.4 of the GNU Image Manipulation Program is finally out. Developers, artists and user interface designers from all over the world worked together to make GIMP more powerful and easier to use than ever. The changes from version 2.2 are described in the release notes on

    http://gimp.org/release-notes/gimp-2.4.html

For a more detailed list of changes, please have a look at the NEWS file at http://developer.gimp.org/NEWS-2.4

If you want to compile GIMP 2.4 yourself, you can grab the tarball from ftp.gimp.org or one of its mirrors:

    ftp://ftp.gimp.org/pub/gimp/v2.4/

Binary packages for the various supported platforms are expected to become available over the next couple of days. The new gimp.org website will help you to locate the packages for your system:

Thanks a lot to everyone who helped to improve GIMP.

The roadmap for GIMP 2.6 will be discussed over the next weeks on the gimp-developer mailing-list. We can only tell you so much now: It is going to rock and it shouldn't take as long to get it done as it took to finish GIMP 2.4. If you want to join the effort, your help is much appreciated.

    Happy GIMPing,
    Sven

FoxNews Mentions GIMP as One of Eight Must-Have Apps 2007-09-22
FoxNews mentions the GIMP on a front-page linked piece. The focus of the article is Linux software, but here we all know how well WinGIMP works on the Windows flavor of your choice. It is nice to see Fox News recognize our software.

Liquid (Seam Carving) Image Rescale Plugin 2007-09-10
The GNOME project's Nicolas Trangez wrote an implementation of a liquid rescale algorithm in Python. This algorithm was in turn implemented as Python GIMP plugin by Carlo Baldassi. The plugin uses Python Imaging Library and SciPy/NumPy. A source archive is available from the GIMP plugin repository.

GhostScript for PS and EPS Support 2007-07-27
In order to open PS and EPS files GhostScript needs to be installed alongside WinGIMP. GhostScript can be downloaded from www.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/. After you install GhostScript, set the environment variable GS_PROG to the full path to gs.exe.

Welcome to the GIMP Party: MaximumPC 2007-06-30

Robert Strohmeyer of MaximumPC wrote an article, apparently first in a series, about our favorite GIMP. Great to see some more mainstream news sources finally coming around to write about something other than the commercial alternatives.
